This will eventually make sense. I’m feeling my way back into writing via journaling.

Starbreaker
Time for a new continuity?
- I’m not the man I was when I first wrote Starbreaker in the late 1990s and 2000s.
- I’m not the man I was when I wrote for Curiosity Quills in the 2000s and published Without Bloodshed and Silent Clarion . I’ve grown. I’ve faced loss. I’ve survived a plague.
- Surely Starbreaker is different now, isn’t it?
- Even if it isn’t, I want to hit the reset button. I don’t want to be stuck with the story I established for CQ. They shafted me and every other author they had under contract.
- Nor do I want to write under my birth name.
- I already run starbreaker.org as “Matt Cambion”. I can write and publish under that name, too.
Novels?
- No. Not at first. Been there, done that.
Short stories?
- Been there and done that, too, but it might be worth a shot. I can always publish collections or build a novel out of shorts.
Narrative verse?
- LOL NO
- No way am I counting syllables and worrying about meter.
Screenplays?
- So Netflix, Amazon, or Disney can make a defective video game? No thanks.
- But at least screenwriters have an effective union ( WGA ).
The question of form is perhaps premature. Let’s first consider the stage and the cast.
The Setting?
- Earth, 21XX (the precise year is irrelevant)
- Some survivors remember Nationfall.
- The world almost ended. Capitalism didn’t.
- Plagues, demogogues, dictators, climate change, geoengineering, medical and psychiatric nanotech, commercial space exploration.
- First contact happened in the Neolithic era.
- Many of the gods of polytheistic belief are refugees from an other star. They didn’t build the pyramids or any of that other shit. Erich von Daniken was a schmuck.
